Autumn Term 2023

In Chestnut Class our topic this term is ‘River Deep, Mountain High’. As we head into the second half of the term we begin to leave mountains behind and learn about more about  rivers and their relationship with mountains.

In Maths we have secured our learning of place value and applied this to solving problems in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We are now ready to tackle fractions!

Our class text is King of the Cloud Forests by Michael Morpurgo; an adventure story set in the Himalayas. We are loving the book and excited to discover what will happen to Ashley and the yetis. Will Ashley ever see Uncle Sung again?

In Science we have been learning about materials and their properties and carrying out enquiries into the absorbency and solubility of different materials. We will be investigating thermal conductivity and how to dissolve and retrieve materials from solutions.

In our Religious Education lessons we have explored reasons for why Christians believe Jesus is God’s Son and how they draw on the Bible for their ideas; considering different representations of Jesus in art and why different images exist.
