Alison Lapper visits

On Wednesday 6th December, Alison Lapper visited our school to work with all of the children from EYFS to year 6.

Alison is an artist, presenter and disability campaigner and a member of the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. You may recognise her from the Alison Lapper Pregnant statue, which was in Trafalgar Square from 2005-2007..

Alison promotes art and mental health, through ‘The Drug of Art’. This encourages the use of art and creative expression to help young people with their mental health and wellbeing, combating isolation and loneliness.

While in school, all of the children had the opportunity to ask Alison questions, look at some of her art work and experience using their mouth and feet to paint.

The children really enjoyed the opportunity and we feel so priviledged to have had this amazing chance to work with an artist.

Hopefully, it will have inspired many of our children to become artists in the future, recognising their own strengths and amazing selves.
