Ivy our School Dog

Ivy is our much loved school dog, who has been at our school for just over a year since she was just four months old. Ivy lives with Miss Cooper and spent the summer holidays at school before she met the children. She is very much part of school life! Ivy is the luckiest dog in the world to be in our beautiful school, with access to all the grounds and walks nearby and in how she is loved by us all.

Ivy is only one and so is very much still a puppy, with Labradors not expected to reach maturity until between 2 and 4 years of age. Ivy attends regular training, both in group and 1-1 contexts. Ivy has learnt to be calm at all times around the school and responds to instructions from the children. All of our children are proud puppy trainers and do a fantastic job of giving her space while she is learning. Our aim is for Ivy to become a qualified School Assistance Dog and registered 'Pets as Therapy' dog over the coming years as she continues her training.

Ivy is always on the lead around our school when the children and visitors are in school. She has full insurance, including public indemnity insurance.

If you are visiting our school, please be sure to read the visitor information about Ivy and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

The children are currently planning and forming a group to be responsible for monitoring the welfare of Ivy, and of all the other animals that live in our school grounds. Keep an eye out for a newsletter from this group of children, to be found here soon!
