Developing the Whole Child- Prince William Award and Commando Joe's

When Miss Cooper first came to Slindon Church of England Primary School, our school was in 'Requires Improvement'. Together, we all needed to make changes to ensure that we would quickly become a 'good' school. One of the first things we did, was to get involved with the Prince William Award
The values and principles of the PWA were much aligned with our own, and Miss Cooper knew the benefits that the programme would have on us as individuals, and on our learning.

Whilst we are thrilled that our academic performance has dramatically risen in this time, we are so passionate about contributing to the development of the whole child. We know that creating active opportunities outdoors for team-building, developing optimism, empathy, gratitude and self belief far outweigh the 'SATS booster groups' and 'The Daily Mile' offered in many other schools.

We were incredibly disappointed that the Prince William Award had to stop in the summer of 2019. So much so that the children wrote a letter to Prince William and were pleased to receive a reply from Kensington Palace.

Moving forward, we have teamed up with Commando Joe's and we are looking forward to working with them this year. We look forward to sharing more about it later in the year.
